Cape Verde, the real emerging tourist destination

If Africa is the great unknown, within the continent there are places that are much more so. This is the case of Cape Verde, an archipelago located off the coast of Senegal, in the Atlantic Ocean. It is a barely exploited paradise, an emerging tourist destination, hence its enormous attraction. Little is known about this exotically named country. However, it is consolidating itself as an emerging destination in 2018 and the coming years. Want to know why?

You may have heard of Cape Verde in passing, but you may never have considered visiting it. The reality is that this archipelago made up of 10 islands and 3 islets is seeing an increase in tourism for some time now. Because who could resist a destination with around 365 days of sunshine (i.e., all year round) and an average spring-like temperature of between 25 and 30 degrees? These are just some of the reasons why tourism is growing unstoppably.

"Cape Verde is far from being an overcrowded destination, so it continues to be a fantastic option for different travel enthusiasts."

Africa por primera vez cabo verde

Very sustained growth

According to the National Institute of Statistics of Cape Verde, the main islands received around 644,000 visitors in 2017, which was an increase of 12% over the previous year. You’ll understand it much better when you learn about the figures from 2003, when barely 150,000 tourists came to the archipelago. Spectacular the rise, isn’t it?

Even so, Cape Verde is far from being an overcrowded destination, so it remains a fantastic choice for enthusiasts of different trips. This African country, which has no more than half a million inhabitants, can boast of still preserving its unspoiled landscapes.

It is a destination of contrasts, since, as mentioned above, it is made up of a dozen islands, each with its own particularities. Because of its relaxed and genuine lifestyle and the possibilities it offers, it is ideal for travelers in search of nature and adventure. Not surprisingly, lovers of hiking, surfing, diving and other water sports will find their dream place in the archipelago.

An emerging tourist destination; a guarantee of tranquility

But Cape Verde is also ideal for disconnecting, either in its amazing and almost untouched beaches (which we will talk about on another occasion), or in its fishing villages and other remote and quiet towns.

Surely you are already beginning to realize that this is not a conventional destination. That is why we are not at all surprised that it is becoming an emerging tourist destination, since it meets all the requirements for it to be so.

The authentic beauty found in every corner is undoubtedly one of its greatest attractions. Whether you are on the idyllic beaches of the island of Sal or Boavista or you are immersed in the wild green of the island of Santo Antao or the arid brown of Sao Vicente, wherever you are, you can’t help but wonder why you didn’t come to this place before; this year’s star emerging tourist destination.
