A Sustainable Project
At Oi Cabo Verde we care about sustainable tourism development and we want to contribute with a positive impact as much as possible. For this reason, our partners have always been selected with responsible criteria that take into account the development of the economy, with respect for the environment and the social rights of all professionals involved.
In addition to working with local services and operators, we support various cooperative projects established in the archipelago that aim to improve health, social and biodiversity in different areas of the archipelago. One of them is Projeto Biodiversidade, which we present below.
Vision for the future
The purpose of our project goes beyond personalized travel design. We want to put an end to major problems that affect the tourism industry, and consequently the globality of the world, and that is why small details in the present can positively affect our imminent future.
For this reason, we are committed to:
- Work with suppliers who treat their employees fairly, with fair wages and working conditions.
- To focus on lodgings with sustainable policies developed or in the development phase.
- To ensure that our partners do not exploit children.
- To have human rights respected at all stages involved before, during and after each trip.
- To inform our travelers about the importance of minimizing CO2 emissions and waste generation, especially plastics, through our different information channels.
We are aware of the difficulty of acting responsibly in our daily lives, and even more of promoting responsible travel. Many speeches are suddenly cut off when taking a plane, with all that this entails… But without giving up and with the aim of improving and learning a little every day, we are absolutely committed to this type of tourism.
Responsible travel, a multi-sector project
Our responsible travel project has several ongoing sections; one of them is the blog, where we try to provide information of interest that deals with various topics about society, the environment and tourism in Cape Verde. In these articles, we try to make travelers aware of the problems that exist in this world and that affect us all. Below, you can consult the Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the UN to try to transform this world for the better.
In addition, in some of our responsible trips we offer the opportunity to collaborate in first person in field tasks for the preservation of the environment.
Other actions we are working on are presentations and round tables to address issues that fully affect us, such as the excess of plastics in our routines and the problem they pose.
So we continue and will continue to offer responsible travel and contribute with our grain of sand to the improvement of the environment where we travel.
Tourcert Check certificate in force
Years ago we obtained the certificate “TourCert Check, Travel For Tomorrow” from the prestigious German company TourCert. A small recognition that helps us to improve day by day in the field of company sustainability and the promotion of good habits.
