Day 1: City of origin – Praia (Santiago)
Departure by scheduled flight with stopover in Lisbon. Arrival in Praia, visa formalities and transfer to the hotel in Praia. Start of the entire sotavento. Once we settle in, we can go out for a visit to the city center and the Sukopira market. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Praia – Rui Vaz
Breakfast. In the morning we recommend a transfer to Cidade Velha, the first settlement on the island and a UNESCO heritage site, for a visit to get to know this historic place. In the afternoon transfer to the interior of the island in Rui Vaz.
This enclave is a perfect and authentic sample of the rural life of the island and will also be a good opportunity to get in touch with the local people. We will stay at the comfortable Quinta da Montanha guesthouse where we recommend enjoying its terraces and views during the sunset. Accommodation and dinner at the guesthouse.

Day 3. Rui Vaz – Assomada – Tarrafal
Breakfast. In the morning transfer to the north of the island, in the beautiful bay of Tarrafal. On the way we will stop at the natural park of Serra Malagueta and in the village of Assomada, the third city of the country. Accommodation in hotel in Tarrafal.
Optionally we can do some trekking in Serra Malagueta with guide and picnic included.

Day 4. Tarrafal
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day in Tarrafal to discover this beautiful fishing enclave. We can enjoy the beach, as well as snorkeling, sea kayaking or diving (diving center). We recommend to go to the beach to see the arrival of the fishermen and the boats to the beach and then share it among the different families; a postcard that gives us this trip of Sotavento in its entirety. Possibility to relax on the beach and/or do water sports such as snorkeling, diving or kayaking.
2 kilometers from Tarrafal, in the village of Chao Bom, you can visit the old concentration camp, from the time of the military dictatorship of Salazar. The camp was a place of internment of political prisoners and activists from Cape Verde, Portugal, Guinea Bissau, Angola and Guinea Conakry. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5. Tarrafal – Praia – Sao Filipe – Cha
Breakfast. At the agreed time transfer to Praia to take the flight to Sao Filipe on the island of Fogo.A unique movie experience where we will contemplate the imposing volcano from the air. The island, a totally hostile territory, is home to the third largest capital of Cape Verde, Sao Filipe. Among the last eruptions of the volcano stands out the one in November 2014, when rivers of lava and ash wiped off the map two small villages in the crater of Cha das Caldeiras, fortunately there were no casualties. The inhabitants of Fogo Island have always shown a more than positive attitude when surviving in these threatening latitudes. Despite the inclement weather and government recommendations to evacuate the villages, the local communities have always chosen to stay and carry on with their lives peacefully.Arrival Sao Filipe and transfer to Cha das Caldeiras, at the foot of the Fogo volcano at almost 2000 meters of altitude where we will walk, with a local guide, the wall of the Bordeira to walk and meet the local people of Cha and how is their daily life. Dinner and overnight in guesthouse.

Day 6. Cha – Pico de Fogo – Cha

Day 7. Cha – Sao Filipe
Breakfast. Free morning in Cha. At scheduled time transfer to Sao Filipe where we will visit with local guide. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. Sao Filipe is a very picturesque and well structured capital with beautiful Portuguese colonial houses and colorful streets with bougainvilleas. It has a small but busy market and an area with quality restaurants. Its cobblestone streets contrast with the black sand beaches on the horizon. The architecture is worthy of admiration and it is worth mentioning the famous clay tiles and wooden balconies. Lodging.

Day 8. Sao Filipe – Praia – Maio
Breakfast at the hotel. At the agreed time transfer to Sao Filipe airport to take a flight via Praia to the small neighboring island of Maio. The entire Sotavento extends to the neighboring island. Arrival and transfer to accommodation in Vila do Maio for the next 3 nights. The trip to Maio is very special. Connected to the rest of the country only twice a week, this island remains authentic and with a character of its own. Its lonely white sandy beaches invite to endless relaxation, while the island presents a lot of biodiversity and very interesting places to visit and get to know the local community better. Accommodation in apartment.

Day 9 Maio
Breakfast. Day dedicated to get to know the island of Maio by the hand of the local communities. We will take a tour around the island discovering the biodiversity and the daily life of its people. We will have the opportunity to have lunch in a local family’s house and immerse ourselves in the daily life of Maio. Return to Vila do Maio and accommodation in apartment.

Day 10 Maio
Breakfast. Free day to continue your trip to Maio.
Optionally: In the morning and with a local guide we will visit the cooperative of the salt mines and learn about the artisanal production of goat cheese (famous throughout the country), we will also have the opportunity to take a walk through the village and discover its most unique corners. Accommodation in apartment.

Day 11 Maio – Praia – City of Origin

Breakfast. At the agreed time, transfer to the airport for flight back to Praia to take the international flight back to Spain.
