Day 1: City of origin – Sao Vicente (Mindelo)
Departure by scheduled flight with stopover in Lisbon to start our trip to the Windward Islands. Arrival at Sao Pedro airport on the island of Sao Vicente. Reception at the terminal and transfer to the hotel in the center of Mindelo. Rest of the day at leisure to discover the capital of the island. Mindelo is the cultural and intellectual capital of Cape Verde. A colonial style city where you can contemplate the architecture of the nineteenth century while having a coffee or visit any of its markets. You can also visit a large number of museums and listen to the best live music in the country. In addition, all the history related to the international communications port is still present in the buildings of the Western Telegraph, since Sao Vicente was chosen as the point to pass the telecommunications cable across the Atlantic, and many employees of the Western Telegraph moved to Mindelo. Day 2: Mindelo – Porto Novo – Paul Valley
Breakfast at the hotel. Early transfer to the port of Mindelo to take the ferry to the neighboring island of Santo Antao. Undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places in the world. The island of Santo Antao contains dramatic landscapes of indescribable beauty. A terrain between volcanic and tropical that favors areas with impressive valleys, some of them more than 1000m deep. In these, rural settlements are visible and create postcards in your field of vision. We will find canyons with water circulating all year round, banana plantations and other apocalyptic landscapes with very long jagged walls and deep ravines.
Arrival in Porto Novo and transfer to the eco lodge in the beautiful Paul Valley where we will spend the next 2 nights. On the way, we will tour the spectacular views of the Paul Valley from the village of Cova Crater. Overnight and dinner at the eco lodge (B//D).

Paul Valley
Breakfast at the eco lodge. Day dedicated to a walking tour of the Paul Valley with a local guide. We will visit one of the most fertile valleys of Cape Verde and the only one with a permanent water stream. It will also be a good opportunity to get in touch with the locals and learn first hand about the Creole culture of this special island. We will visit coffee plantations, a crop still not very widespread on the island. Lunch included. Rest of the afternoon free at the eco lodge to enjoy its bio pool and natural environment. Dinner and overnight at the eco lodge (B/L/D/D).

Day 4. St. Paul – Cruzinhas – Ponta do Sol
Breakfast at the eco lodge. In the morning transfer to Cruzinhas for the most spectacular hike of the whole island. With the help of the local guide, we will walk the path that separates the fishing enclave of Cruzinhas with the village of Ponta do Sol, where our luggage will have been transferred. The hike runs along the cliffs of the west coast of the island in a winding path of gentle ups and downs. Total time of the excursion between 3 and 4 hours. Picnic lunch included. Free afternoon at Ponta do Sol to relax with the views of the Atlantic Ocean. Overnight accommodation (B/L/D/B)

Day 5. Ponta do Sol
Breakfast on board. Free day in Ponta do Sol to relax in this small tourist enclave or discover the island at your leisure.
We recommend taking an alugher (collective public transport) to the capital of the island, Ribeira Grande (10 minutes for 50 escudos, 0,5€) to visit its colonial style historic center with painted houses and murals. From here we can continue to discover the valleys of Ribeira da Torre and Ribeira Grande, good examples of 100% rural valley bottoms, little traveled and with many possibilities for hiking and discovering remote villages and neighborhoods. Day 6. Ponta do Sol – Porto Novo – Mindelo
Breakfast on board. Free morning in Ponta do Sol. At the agreed time, transfer to Porto Novo to take the ferry back to Mindelo. Arrival in Mindelo and transfer to accommodation in the city center. In the early afternoon we will visit the Ribiera Bote neighborhood to learn about the social tourism project that the local community has promoted. It is about getting to know first hand the reality and the day to day life of a humble community from a social perspective. We will walk through the neighborhood with a young local guide, a neighbor of the neighborhood and we will discover different stores, services and we will finish having a coffee in one of the houses of the neighborhood. It is not about knowing the poverty but to see in-situ the reality and the potential of a non-touristy neighborhood of Mindelo. Rest of the afternoon free to relax on a terrace in the center (B/-/-).

Day 7. Mindelo
Breakfast at the hotel. Day dedicated to explore the island of Sao Vicente by 4×4 vehicle. We will visit: Monte Verde, Bahia das Gastaut, Praia Larga and Calhau. Picnic lunch and transfer to Mindelo. Rest of the afternoon free and accommodation in guesthouse. (B / – / -)
The discovery of the island of Sao Vicente in 1462 showed little interest in settling it. During the 18th century there were the first attempts, but the harsh conditions prevented it. It was not until the arrival of the English, who saw in the Mindelo area a perfect enclave to resupply the coal ships.
The island of Sao Vicente has a protected area, the natural park of Monte Verde. The presence of turtles was notorious but the impact of the population, infrastructures and ship movements over the centuries caused a decrease in their transit. Endemic species of birds are unknown, but many of them do transit from other islands.

Day 8. Mindelo – City of origin
Breakfast. Free morning in the city to take advantage of the last hours in the city and its spectacular beach of Langinha, turquoise water and white sand. At the scheduled time transfer to the airport for return flight (B / – / -)
End of trip Windward Islands.
