Day 1: City of origin – Sao Vicente (Mindelo)
Arrival at Sao Pedro airport on the island of Sao Vicente and visa formalities. Pick up and assistance by our local guide and transfer to the hotel in the center of Mindelo. Rest of the day at leisure to discover the capital of the island. Mindelo is the cultural capital of Cape Verde. A colonial style city where we can contemplate the architecture of the nineteenth century while observing the curious rhythm of its streets; and is that the morabeza of Barlovento is breathed everywhere. We can also visit different museums and listen to the best live music in the country. We recommend visiting the Museum of Cape Verdean pictorial art and African tribal art AKUBA, located in the Palaço do Povo. A beautiful pink colonial building that was formerly the residence of the governor of the Portuguese colony. Lodging.

Day 2: Mindelo – Porto Novo – Alto Mira
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning transfer to the port of Mindelo to take the ferry to the neighboring island of Santo Antao. Undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places in the world. The island of Santo Antao contains dramatic landscapes of indescribable beauty. A terrain between tropical and volcanic that favors areas with impressive valleys. We will find canyons with permanent water, banana plantations, papaya, mango and other landscapes with long jagged walls and deep ravines.
Arrival in Porto Novo and transfer to Quinta Cochete, in the center of the island and more than 1000 meters above sea level surrounded by steep mountains. Rest of the day at leisure to discover the area and relax in the surroundings of such a special lodging. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3. Alto Mira
Breakfast. Free day in this unique environment. In the morning we recommend going for a walk doing one of the many treks in the area and that we can do on our own without any problem. Hikes that will take us through villages, plantations, ravines… A unique opportunity to discover the most rural Cape Verde. In the afternoon we can relax by the pool or on the terrace of the room. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4. Alto Mira – Ribeira Grande – Cruzinha
Breakfast. At the agreed time, transfer to the spectacular village of Cruzinha, on the seafront. Along the way we can make stops to appreciate the diversity of the landscape. It will be time to take unique photographs, as in Corda, where we will have a spectacular perspective of the Paul Valley. Arrival at the lodge, a sustainable construction located on a cliff and formed by small independent villas. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5. Cruzinha
Breakfast. Today is a relaxing day to enjoy the views. Optionally we can take a tour to discover the main places in the north of the island of Santo Antao such as the village of Ponta do Sol and Fontainhas. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6. Cruzinha – Porto Novo – Mindelo
Breakfast at accommodation. In the morning transfer back to Porto Novo to take the ferry back to Mindelo. Arrival in Mindelo and visit to the Ribiera Bote neighborhood to learn about the social tourism project that the local community has promoted. It is about getting to know first hand the reality and the day to day life of a humble community from a social perspective. We will walk through the neighborhood with a young local guide, a neighbor of the neighborhood and we will discover different stores and services. We will finish our route having a coffee in one of the houses of the neighborhood. It is not about knowing the poverty but to see in-situ the reality and the potential of a non-touristy neighborhood of Mindelo. (D/-/-)

Day 7. Mindelo
Breakfast. Day dedicated to explore the island of Sao Vicente by 4×4 vehicle and private guide. We will visit Monte Verde, a fantastic viewpoint of the entire island and neighboring Santo Antao. From there, we will descend to Bahia das Gatas, Bahia do Norte, and Praia Larga, three spectacular and very different places. We will stop in Calhau for a picnic lunch near the sea and end the day at the beautiful and wild Sandy Beach. Transfer back to Sao Pedro and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay. (D/-/-)

Day 8. Mindelo – City of origin
Breakfast. At scheduled time transfer to the airport to take flight back to Spain.

How do we work?

In Oi Cape Verde we design completely customized trips to the African islands, managing all services (including internal flights and ferries), from your arrival to the archipelago until you take the return flight. We do not manage international flights, but don’t worry, we will explain below the easiest way to book them. In addition, with Oi Cabo Verde you will enjoy 24/7 support in all the islands to travel with total peace of mind.

Reservations

Once you have decided that you want to travel to Cape Verde we make it easy for you. Click on “I want to travel” or “Contact” and we will offer you different ways to design your trip. We can do it by phone or video call, so that we can meet each other face to face! During this consultation, you explain to us the type of trip you have in mind, the dates, days, accommodation category, type of experiences, etc. After this, we will look at the best travel proposal to design, how many islands to visit and advise you on international flights. A few days after the consultation you will receive your travel proposal and later you will be able to formalize it.

In advance

In order to ensure the best available services we recommend you to book your trip several months in advance, ideally between 3 and 6 months. At Oi Cabo Verde we do not manage “last minute trips” less than 30 days before departure. We tell you in much more detail in the following link:

International flights.

As we have already mentioned, Oi Cabo Verde does not manage international flights, but here we explain how they work.

The options for travel to Cape Verde from Spain are still somewhat limited. However, this fact preserves the archipelago as a sustainable tourist destination, somewhat exclusive and in many corners still emerging.

The best option to travel from the mainland is offered by TAP Portugal, which with a quick stopover in Lisbon, we can access the archipelago from different cities. From the Canary Islands, the company Binter offers direct flights to Sal. Between June and September, Vueling offers direct flights from Spain to the island of Sal. There are other options such as Royal Air Marroc, which although offering lower prices, we do not recommend it due to its continuous delays and cancellations.

At the price level, as you know it is impossible to predict the fares of the tickets, but we can show a tendency of them. In no case we would speak of low cost prices. We can travel from 325€ in months like March or October or up to over 900€ in special seasons like Christmas, New Year or some weeks of August.

The stopovers in Lisbon have an approximate duration of 1h 50min. The peninsular flight has a duration of 1h 15/50min (BCN/MAD) and the long flight takes about 4 hours. The tickets include snack during the short flight, menu on the long flight, and normally luggage.
